TÜBİTAK 1002-A Research Grant Success at Yalova University Faculty of Engineering: A Scientific Contribution to the Hydrogen Economy

Faculty members of Yalova University Faculty of Engineering have achieved a significant academic success by securing funding under the TÜBİTAK 1002-A Rapid Support Program for a research project aimed at supporting Türkiye’s transition toward a sustainable hydrogen economy.

The research project, entitled “Evaluation of Türkiye’s Readiness and Transition Performance in the Hydrogen Economy through Process-Based Network Data Envelopment Analysis and Identification of Policy Priorities” (Project No. 226M169), has been approved for funding by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK).

The project is led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ezgi BAYRAKDAR ATEŞ, serving as Principal Investigator, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eyüp ÇALIK contributing as Researcher.

Advancing Türkiye’s Energy Transition Through Scientific Research

The project aims to provide a comprehensive and systematic assessment of Türkiye’s readiness and transformation performance in its transition toward a hydrogen-based economy.

By employing Process-Based Network Data Envelopment Analysis (Network DEA), the research seeks to evaluate energy transition performance through a multidimensional analytical framework and identify strategic policy priorities based on scientific evidence.

The findings are expected to contribute to evidence-based decision-making, support the development of effective hydrogen policies, and provide valuable insights into Türkiye’s sustainable energy transition strategies.

Supporting Sustainable Development and Strategic Energy Policies

As global efforts to accelerate clean energy transitions, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen energy security continue to gain momentum, hydrogen technologies are becoming increasingly important in shaping sustainable energy systems.

Within this context, the TÜBİTAK-funded project offers a strategic research perspective by addressing the transition toward a hydrogen economy not only from a technological standpoint but also through performance assessment, resource efficiency, and policy prioritization.

The research is expected to contribute to the scientific foundations of Türkiye’s hydrogen economy roadmap and support national efforts toward a more sustainable, resilient, and low-carbon energy future.

Strengthening Research Excellence at Yalova University

Yalova University Faculty of Engineering continues to strengthen its research capacity through innovative, interdisciplinary, and nationally relevant scientific projects.

The successful approval of this research project under the TÜBİTAK 1002-A Rapid Support Program represents another valuable contribution to the Faculty’s ongoing commitment to research excellence, sustainable development, and impactful scientific innovation.

We sincerely congratulate Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ezgi BAYRAKDAR ATEŞ and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eyüp ÇALIK on this important achievement and wish them continued success throughout the implementation of their research project.
